Jonathan Murphy began a career in entertainment at the age of 17. Born and raised in Arlington, Texas. His path into the industry came in front of the camera, by way of acting. After booking roles on such prime time hit shows like American Dreams, Judging Amy, Without a Trace, Ghost Whisperer, Cold Case, Crossing Jordan, October Road, and Life on Mars. Jonathan has worked beside: Oscar Winner Ernest Borgnine and Golden Globe Nominated Lou Diamond Phillips, along with Oscar-Winning director, Juan Campenella on FOX’S House, M.D and Alec Baldwin, Luke Wilson, and Nikki Reed in the independent film, Mini’s First Time.
Jonathan started his own production company, Hollow Tree Productions LLC in 2011, producing his first solo project, the short film written, directed by Jonathan entitled, Pull the Trigger, Mr. Wicker starred Jonathan in the title role, along with Lindy Booth (Kiss Ass 2, Cry Wolf) and Erin Daniels (House of 1000 Corpses, The L Word), as well as the short, The Public Domain (2012).
Shortly after, Hollow Tree completed production on an original 22 Minute reality pilot, Little Leading Ladies for Desert Wind TV, and has optioned the original screenplay, A Broken Bridge (a Kairos Uplifting Screenplay Contest Finalist). In the summer of 2015, Jonathan lead production on Hollow Tree Production’s first full-length feature, Murphy’s original screenplay, Animal Among Us.
Currently, Reloaded Films and Murphy are co-producing the Sci-Fi screenplay, BluStella, with Archstone Entertainment handling worldwide sales. Murphy is also currently serving as lead producer in the development of the screenplays, The Yarn Man, Bobby Blue, Whetherman, and original pilots The Strange Life of Jeremy Jekyll, The Magik Man, and The Morning Star Collection, as well as continuing to seek out original content for future Hollow Tree Productions.
